Some notes on Dallas Stars prospects playing this season in juniors, college and the European leagues.
RW Matej Stransky has eight points (two goals, six assists) in his last six games for Saskatoon of the Western Hockey League. Stransky, a sixth round pick in 2011, has eleven points (four goals, seven assists) in 14 games this season.
C Gemel Smith has picked up points in his last six games for Owen Sound of the Ontario Hockey League, registering two goals and five assists during the streak. Smith, a fourth round pick in 2012, has eleven points (four goals, seven assists) in eleven games this season.
RW Brett Ritchie (second round/2011) snapped a nine-game goal scoring drought, tallying twice in Niagara’s 4-2 win over Kingston on Saturday in the OHL. Ritchie has 14 points (three goals, eleven assists) in 13 games this season.
C Radek Faksa had one goal and one assist as Kitchener defeated Kingston 5-2 in OHL play on Sunday. Faksa, Dallas’ first round pick in 2012, has ten points (five goals, five assists) in eleven games this season.
G Maxime Lagace registered his first shutout of the season, stopping 30 shots as P.E.I. defeated Moncton in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League on Friday. Lagace is 3-3-0 this season with a 4.58 goals against average and .862 save percentage.
LW Alex Guptill (third round/2010) scored his first two goals of the season Saturday, tallying twice as the University of Michigan defeated Bentley 6-3.
F Scott Winkler (third round/2008) scored two goals as Colorado College defeated Air Force 6-2 on Friday. Winkler, a senior this season, has three goals and one assist in four games.
D Troy Vance (fifth round/2011) and RW Branden Troock (fifth round/2012), who had both been out due to illness, returned to action this past week. D John Klingberg (fifth round/2010) remains out in the Swedish Elite League due to offseason hip surgery.
D Esa Lindell, who started the season in Finland’s top league, has been loaned to Kiekko-Vantaa of Finland’s second tier league. Lindell, a third round pick in 2012, has played two games for Kiekko-Vantaa, picking up one goal and averaging 26:05 of ice time.
Curtis McKenzie (sixth round/2009), who missed Miami University’s first two games of the season with an upper body injury, picked up an assist in each of Miami’s games over the weekend as the RedHawks went 1-0-1.
