Prospect Report: Tufte has productive weekend in NCAA

The sophomore forward tallies four points in two games as No. 9 Minnesota Duluth sweeps No. 17 Western Michigan

Stars forward prospect Riley Tufte had a productive weekend for the University of Minnesota Duluth, recording four points (two goals, two assists) as the No. 9 Bulldogs took two games from No. 17 Western Michigan.

Tufte scored one goal on Friday as Minnesota Duluth blew out Western Michigan, 8-0, picking up a loose puck and scoring from the left circle to put UMD up 3-0 early in the third period. Tufte's goal was the first of six in the third for the Bulldogs.

On Saturday, he tallied a power-play goal and chipped in two assists as the Bulldogs routed Western Michigan again, this time by a 6-1 score.

Tufte, Dallas' first-round pick (25th overall) in the 2016 NHL Draft, has 25 points (15 goals, 10 assists) in 32 games and leads the Bulldogs in goal scoring and ranks fourth in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference.

The sophomore forward ranks third on Minnesota Duluth in points and leads the team with 100 shots on goal.

NCAA

G Jake Oettinger (1st round/2017) went 1-0-1 over the weekend stopping 60 of 61 shots including a 33-save shutout in Boston University's 2-0 win over Vermont. He also stopped 27 of 28 shots in a 1-1 tie with Vermont. Oettinger is 16-12-4 with a 2.50 goals against average and .912 save percentage.

G Colton Point (5th round/2016) returned after missing the past two weeks due to injury and stopped 52 of 55 shots as Colgate went 1-0-1 including a 5-2 win over RPI and a 1-1 tie with Union. Point is 13-9-5 and ranks 2nd in the nation in goals against average (1.72) and first in save percentage (.946). Colgate plays RPI in the ECAC tournament this weekend.

D Joe Cecconi (5th round/2015) tallied one goal and two assists in two games as No. 13 Michigan swept a weekend series from Arizona State. Cecconi has 20 points (5 goals, 15 assists) in 34 games. Michigan plays Wisconsin in the Big Ten tournament this weekend.

D Michael Prapavessis (4th round/2014) picked up one assist in two games for RPI. Prapavessis has 18 assists in 34 games for the Engineers. RPI plays Colgate in the ECAC tournament this weekend.

C/LW Rhett Gardner (4th round/2016) did not play this past weekend for North Dakota due to a lower-body injury. He is listed as day to day. Gardner has 17 points (6 goals, 11 assists) in 27 games.

Europe

D Miro Heiskanen (1st round/2017) picked up one goal in his final two games for Finland at the Olympics. Heiskanen scored at even strength in Finland's 5-2 win over Korea in the qualification round. He had no points while playing 19:14 in Finland's 1-0 loss to Canada in the quarterfinals. Heiskanen finished the tournament with one goal in five games and averaged 16:39 of ice time.

C Jacob Peterson (5th round/2017) scored his second goal of the season in Sweden's second league, and it was a big one. Peterson scored 2:28 into overtime as Bjorkloven defeated Almtuna, 3-2, on Friday. Peterson has two goals in six games in the second league this season.

D Jakob Stenqvist (6th round/2016) recorded one assist in two games for Bjorkloven in Sweden's second league last week. Stenqvist has 21 points (4 goals, 17 assists) and is tied for seventh in the league in scoring among defensemen.
