Dallas Stars Place Daley, Rome On Injured Reserve; Recall Oleksiak, Sneep from Texas Stars

The Dallas Stars announced today that two defensemen, Trevor Daley and Aaron Rome, have been placed on injured reserve. Daley's upper body injury is retroactive to the Feb. 17 game against Calgary, while Rome's lower body injury is retroactive to the game on Saturday, Feb. 23 against San Jose. The team also recalled defensemen Jamie Oleksiak and Carl Sneep from the Texas Stars, Dallas' development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Daley, 29, has one goal, two assists, and 22 shots in 16 games for Dallas this season. Since playing his first NHL contest in the 2003-04 season, no Stars defenseman has played more games than Daley's 593 career NHL tilts. The native of Toronto, Ont. was Dallas' second-round selection (43rd overall) in 2002.

Rome, 29, has earned two assists, eight penalty minutes, and six shots in 11 games for Dallas this season. In 185 career NHL games, Rome has 24 points (6G-18A) and 164 penalty minutes. The Nesbitt, Man. native was Los Angeles' fourth-round selection (104th overall) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft and was signed by Dallas as a free agent on July 1, 2012.

Oleksiak, 20, ranks fifth among all AHL defensemen in scoring (third on Texas Stars) with 29 points (6G-23A), and is sixth in the league with a plus-20 rating in 48 games this season. On Feb. 1, the 6-foot-7 defenseman made his NHL debut against the Phoenix Coyotes, and has posted one assist and three shots in six games for Dallas this season.Oleksiak has six points (3G-3A) in five games since being assigned to Texas on Feb. 14. He was Dallas' first-round selection (14th overall) in 2011.

Sneep, 25, has split time between the ECHL's Wheeling Nailers and the AHL's Texas Stars this season. In 13 games with Texas, he has 3 points (1G-2A), six penalty minutes, and a plus-5 rating. He skated in his only NHL game on Dec. 17, 2011 against the Buffalo Sabres where he earned an assist and plus-1 rating in the contest.The 6-foot-3, 220-pound native of Brainerd, Minn. was Pittsburgh's second-round selection (32nd overall) in 2002. He was acquired by Dallas in exchange for a conditional seventh-round pick in this year's draft on Jan. 24, 2013.
