The Dallas Stars will honor military members and their families on OneSource Virtual Military Appreciation Night, Saturday, March 19 against the New York Islanders at 7 p.m. OneSource Virtual is providing over 1,300 seats for veterans and active-duty servicemen and women to attend the game against the Islanders.
"Recognizing our local military members in a meaningful and memorable way has always been a priority of the Dallas Stars organization," Dallas Stars President and CEO Jim Lites said. "We are honored to stand alongside our local servicemen and women who have sacrificed for the good of our country."
Stars defenseman Alex Goligoski and forward Cody Eakin have donated an 18-person suite for the game on March 19 benefiting Defending The Blue Line and Wounded Warriors. The Stars will take the ice for warmups against the Islanders wearing camouflage jerseys, and goaltender Kari Lehtonen will wear a one-of-a-kind mask. The one-of-a-kind jerseys and goaltender mask will be auctioned off following the game at DallasStars.com/Auctions. Proceeds from the goaltender mask, designed by Lehtonen himself, will benefit the Lone Survivor Foundation, and proceeds from the jerseys will benefit Defending The Blue Line.
"OneSource Virtual is proud to recognize those who served in our U.S. armed forces," Co-Founder, President and COO of OneSource Virtual Wesley Bryan said. "It's our privilege to partner with the Dallas Stars for Military Appreciation Night and provide an evening of recognition and entertainment for these deserving men and women and their families. In doing so, we hope to honor every American soldier and all they exemplify by saying thank you for your service."
The pre-game Party on AT&T Plaza, beginning at 5 p.m., will feature military displays in addition to Stars inflatables and live music. Additionally, the first 15,000 fans will receive complimentary Dallas Stars camouflage caps courtesy of City Credit Union. Military personnel will participate in one-of-a-kind game experiences throughout the evening including visiting penalty boxes during warmups, cheering on the Stars outside the locker as they take the ice after intermissions and opportunities post-game to meet Stars players. Throughout the entire evening, the Stars organization will recognize military members and their families who are in attendance on the videoboard.
Military organizations participating in Military Night also include the Veterans Coalition of North Central Texas, Vet Tix and Allies in Service.
