Dallas Stars Host Military Night Presented by OneSource Virtual on Sunday, March 1

by Dallas Stars Staff / Dallas Stars

The Dallas Stars will honor military members and their families on Military Appreciation Night presented by OneSource Virtual, Sunday, March 1 against the Anaheim Ducks at 7 p.m. Dallas Stars season ticket holders, along with OneSource Virtual, are donating over 2,000 seats for veterans and active-duty servicemen and women to attend the game against the Ducks.

"Recognizing our local military members in a meaningful and memorable way has always been a priority of the Dallas Stars organization," Dallas Stars President and CEO Jim Lites said. "The response by our season ticket holders to willingly donate their seats for military personnel is a testament to the generosity of the North Texas hockey community."

The Stars will take the ice for warmups against Anaheim wearing camouflage jerseys. The one-of-a-kind jerseys will be auctioned off following the game at DallasStars.com/Auctions, with proceeds benefitting Defending The Blue Line, a non-profit organization helping ensure that children of military members are afforded every opportunity to participate in the game of hockey. Defending The Blue Line provides access to free hockey equipment, summer hockey games and grants to help with local association fees.

"We are not only thrilled, but grateful to be a part of the Dallas Stars Military Appreciation Night recognizing the brave men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces," said Co-Founder, President and COO of OneSource Virtual Wesley Bryan.  "Our military personnel make countless, selfless contributions day-in and day-out, and are happy to let those contributions fly under the radar, unnoticed simply as a job well done. The recognition we give them, as well as to the strength and dedication of their families, could not be more highly deserved."

The pre-game Party on AT&T Plaza, beginning at 5 p.m., will feature military displays in addition to Stars inflatables and live music from the Hard Rock Cafe Dallas stage. Additionally, the first 15,000 fans will receive complimentary Dallas Stars camouflage caps courtesy of Dr Pepper. Military personnel will participate in one-of-a-kind game experiences throughout the evening including visiting penalty boxes during warmups, cheering on the Stars outside the locker as they take the ice after intermissions and opportunities post-game to meet Stars players. Throughout the entire evening, the Stars organization will recognize military members and their families who are in attendance on the videoboard.

Prior to the game, Marcus Luttrell, former United States Navy SEAL and author of the best-selling book Lone Survivor, will participate in the ceremonial puck drop. Luttrell, who earned a Navy Cross and Purple Heart during Operation Iraqi Freedom, established the Lone Survivor Foundation in 2010, dedicated to honoring and remembering American service members by providing unique educational, rehabilitation, recovery, and wellness opportunities to U.S. Armed Forces members and their families.
