Stars honor Spezza for reaching 1,000 career games

Jason Spezza is officially part of hockey history, and he has some new hardware to boot.
The veteran center was honored before Saturday afternoon's matinee against Nashville with a special ceremony for becoming the 326th player in NHL history to reach the 1,000-game mark.

Joined by his family, Spezza was gifted a silver stick from Dallas general manager Jim Nill, an engraved crystal from CEO Jim Lites, a Rolex watch from captain Jamie Benn and a special dinner by owner Tom Gaglardi.

Spezza, in his 16th season, officially reached the milestone during Dallas' game against Montreal on Oct. 30. He is the 214th forward and the 89th center to reach the league-recognized milestone, while he is also one of just 16 active NHL players to do so.
During Saturday's game, PGA Tour star Jordan Spieth, Hockey Hall of Famer Bobby Orr and several players from around the league gave video tributes to Spezza, including Penguins star Sidney Crosby, Taylor Hall of the Devils, John Tavares of the Maple Leafs and Spezza's former teammates in Dallas, Trevor Daley (Detroit) and Cody Eakin (Vegas).
