Dallas Stars General Manger Jim Nill announced today the addition of Craig Bonner to the club's professional scouting staff.
Bonner has spent the last seven years in the Western Hockey League (WHL) as the General Manager and Vice President of the Kamloops Blazers. He originally joined the Blazers as a player from 1988-93, spending two seasons as the captain of the team. During his career as a player in Kamloops, Bonner won two division titles, two WHL titles and the 1992 Memorial Cup.
Prior to his time in the Kamloops front office, the Edmonton, Alta. native spent six seasons with the Vancouver Giants (WHL) as Assistant General Manager and Assistant Coach. During his time with the Giants, Bonner won three B.C. Division titles, two Western Conference Championships, a WHL Championship and the 2007 Memorial Cup.
Bonner played three seasons of professional hockey (1993-1996) with the Kalamazoo Wings/Michigan K-Wings (IHL), which was the primary development affiliate of the Dallas Stars at the time. He recorded 10 points (2-8=10) with 114 penalty minutes in 62 contests.
