CHICAGO, Illinois - Dallas Stars General ManagerJim Nill and Director of Amateur Scouting Joe McDonnellconcluded the 2017 NHL Draft held at United Center by selecting five players on Saturday. Below is a review of all seven of the selections from the two-day draft.
Miro Heiskanen - Defenseman (First Round, Third Overall)
Heiskanen, 17, played for HIFK of the Finnish Elite League in 2016-17, compiling 10 points (5-5=10) in 37 regular-season games, and three points (0-3=3) in eight playoff contests. He also represented Finland at both the 2017 U-20 World Junior Championship and the 2017 U-18 World Junior Championship.
The 6-foot-1, 172-pound native of Espoo, Finland recorded one assist in six games at the U-20 World Junior Championship. At the 2017 U-18 World Championship, he registered twelve points (2-10=12) in seven games as Finland captured the silver medal. Heiskanen earned best defenseman honors and was named to the tournament all-star team after leading all skaters in assists and all defensemen in points.

Jake Oettinger - Goaltender (First Round, 26th Overall)
Oettinger, 18, completed his freshman season at Boston University in 2016-17 with a 21-11-3 record and four shutouts. His .927 save percentage ranked 10th in the nation and his 2.11 goals against average finished 12th. He was named as a Hockey East Second Team All-Star and was also named to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team. The 6-foot-4, 218-pound native of Lakeville, Minn. also earned a gold medal representing the United States at the 2017 World Junior Championship.

Jason Robertson - Left Wing (Second Round, 39th Overall)
Robertson, 17, finished the 2016-17 tied for 13th in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) and led Kingston with 81 points (42-39=81) in 68 regular-season games. He also led the OHL with 11 game-winning goals, while his 42 goals were tied for sixth in the League and his 12 power play goals shared 14th. The 6-foot-2, 196-pound native of Arcadia, Calif. also ranked 13th in the OHL with 18 points (5-13=18) in 11 postseason contests, while his 13 assists were tied for ninth.

Liam Hawel - Center (Fourth Round, 101st Overall)
Hawel, 18, split the 2016-17 season between Sault Ste. Marie and Guelph of the OHL, recording 28 points (9-19=28) in 66 total regular-season contests. He began the season with Sault Ste. Marie, earning 14 points (6-8=14) in 38 contests before being acquired by Guelph, where he tallied 14 points (3-11=14) in his final 28 games of the campaign. The 6-foot-4, 175-pound native of Kanata, Ont. also skated in five games for Team Canada at the 2017 IIHF U18 World Championship.

Jacob Peterson - Center (Fifth Round, 132nd Overall)
Peterson, 17, skated for Frolunda in both the Sweden Junior and Sweden Junior U18 leagues in 2016-17. He recorded 20 points (13-7=20) in 10 games at the U18 level and finished fifth on Frolunda J20 with 27 points (15-12=27) in 44 contests at the Junior level. The 6-foot-0, 165-pound native of Linkoping, Sweden also skated for Team Sweden at the 2017 IIHF U18 World Championship, recording two points (1-1=2) in seven tournament games. He also appeared in four games and recorded one point (1-0=1) in four games with Team Sweden at the 2017 Five Nations Tournament.

Brett Davis - Right Wing (Sixth Round, 163rd Overall)
Davis, 18, split the 2016-17 season between Lethbridge and Kootenay of the Western Hockey League (WHL), recording 33 points (18-15=33) in 59 total regular-season WHL games. He began the season in Lethbridge, posting 11 points (7-4=11) in 29 contests before being acquired by Kootenay where he registered 22 points (11-11=22) in 30 games. The 6-foot-1, 178-pound native of Oakbank, Man. Finished tied for fifth on Kootenay with 11 goals, while he ranked seventh on the team with 22 points.

Dylan Ferguson - Goaltender (Seventh Round, 194th Overall)
Ferguson, 18, appeared in 31 regular-season games with Kamloops of the Western Hockey League during the 2016-17 season. The 6-foot-1, 189-pound native of Lantzville, B.C. posted a 16-10-2 record with a .922 save percentage and a 2.74 goals against average in 2016-17.
