About the Stars

The Stars (24-17-3) came out of their bye week with a 4-1 loss to Colorado at American Airlines Center. The game was tied 1-1 after two periods, and the Stars couldn't take advantage of back-to-back power plays at the start of the third period, and Colorado scored the game-winning goal less than three minutes after Dallas missed on the opportunities.
"The game turned on the missed power play opportunities in the third period," said Stars coach Ken Hitchcock. "We missed all of those opportunities we had in the third and, especially in the first, we had a lot of scoring opportunities. We created a lot of turnovers in the first and didn't get the lead. Then, we had a lot of looks in the third period when it was 1-1. That's what you want."
The Stars wrapped up a six-game homestand with a 4-2-0 record. The Stars currently hold the second wild-card spot in the Western Conference.
Monday's game begins a four-game road trip for the Stars, who will play Boston, Detroit, Columbus, and Buffalo.
"I think it will be good for us," Hitchcock said. "There are tough teams, and the first team out of the box [Boston] are probably the best team in the East right now. That is a very significant opponent, and it will be a good test for us. I am looking forward to it."
Kari Lehtonen will start in goal Monday against Boston. It will be Lehtonen's first start since Dec. 15.

About the Bruins

The Bruins (24-10-7) ran their points streak to 12 games (9-0-3) with a 4-3 shootout win at Montreal Saturday. Brad Marchand scored in regulation and tallied the shootout winner for the Bruins, who overcame 1-0 and 3-2 deficits in their first game against former coach Claude Julien, who was fired last season.
"We were down, I think, two or three times, so obviously a tight game, a very close game, and you could tell that both teams had a lot of energy and were well-rested," Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara said. "It was a tight game, and it was nice to get two points."
The Bruins, who have not lost in regulation since Dec. 14, are 18-3-3 in their last 24 games and sit in second place in the Atlantic Division.
Monday's game is the first of a two-game homestand for Boston.
