Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nill announced today that the club has assigned right wing Brett Ritchie to the Texas Stars, Dallas' top development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Ritchie, 22, began the year on the injured non-roster list after undergoing wrist surgery prior to training camp. As a rookie for Dallas in 2014-15, he posted nine points (6-3=9) in 31 games played. In his NHL debut, he scored on his first career shot, which stood as the game-winning goal, on Dec. 31 vs. Arizona.
He also appeared in 33 regular season games for Texas in 2014-15, posting 21 points (14-7=21) and a +19 plus/minus rating. In three Calder Cup Playoff contests, he generated two points (1-1=2).
The 6-foot-3, 220-pound native of Orangeville, Ontario was selected by Dallas in the second round (44th overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft.
