Dallas Stars President and CEO Jim Lites and Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price announced today the return of Dallas Stars Training Camp to the Fort Worth Convention Center beginning on Friday, Sept. 19 through Sunday, Sept. 21. For the second consecutive season, the club will commence training camp in North Texas and play their first scrimmage of the 2014-15 season in Fort Worth.
"After a very successful training camp last year in Fort Worth, it was an easy decision to return to the Fort Worth Convention Center to kickoff the 2014-15 campaign," Lites said. "The city of Fort Worth and Mayor Betsy Price welcomed us with open arms last year and our strong fan base in North Texas responded by supporting the Stars at the numerous events over the weekend. Our organization is thrilled to be back and continue building on our strong relationship with the Fort Worth community."
The training camp, which will feature team practices that are free and open to the public on Friday, Sept. 19 and Saturday, Sept. 20, will end with the intra-squad scrimmage at the Fort Worth Convention Center on Sunday, Sept. 21. Other fan and community events are scheduled to take place during the weekend of training camp and will be officially announced at a later date.
"Fort Worth is proud to host the Dallas Stars again for their training camp," Price said. "The hockey fan base on the western half of the Metroplex is extremely passionate about their hometown team. Fort Worth appreciates the opportunity to play a role in kicking off what we expect will be another exciting season this fall."
The Dallas Stars open the 2014-15 preseason against the St. Louis Blues on Sept. 22 at American Airlines Center at 7:30 p.m. The club will begin the 2014-15 regular season at home against the Chicago Blackhawks on Oct. 9.
