FRISCO, Texas - The Dallas Stars announced today a new partnership with Dallas Junior Hockey Association (DJHA) to rebrand the Easton Invitational Hockey Tournament as the Dallas Stars Tournaments Winter Clash.
The newly created AA-tournament will take place from Dec. 9-11, 2016, with a 5-game guarantee and the same structure as previous years, but now open to all AA levels, including 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U, and 18U. The Dallas Stars Tournaments have canceled the Turkey Shootout event over Thanksgiving weekend and have merged the two events into a single tournament.
"The Dallas Stars and Dallas Junior Hockey Association both desire the continued growth of youth hockey in the state of Texas and across the Southwest region," Dallas Stars Chief Operating Officer Jason Farris said. "Our organization is looking forward to continuing the great tradition of this tournament as one of the best in the country."
For the last three years, the DJHA has organized the Easton Invitational Hockey Tournament with the goal of providing a top flight tournament in Texas for highly ranked AA and mid-level AAA hockey programs across the United States. With a commitment to creating a competitive and fun tournament, teams from all over the United States have traveled to Texas, including the Florida Jr. Panthers, Denver University Jr. Pioneers, Los Angeles Jr. Kings, Boston Jr. Eagles, Utah Regulators, Littleton Hawks, Glenview Stars, Houston Wild, Nevada Storm, Winnetka Warriors, Orange County Hockey Club, and Atlanta Fire, with the Dallas Penguins as the local host organization.
"For over 45 years, Dallas Junior Hockey Association has celebrated its commitment to promoting and improving youth hockey throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex and the State of Texas," Dallas Junior Hockey Association President Brad Buckland said. "The DJHA Board of Directors believes our official partnership with the Dallas Stars and their rebranding of the Easton Invitational as the new Winter Clash, will take the success of this tournament to a whole new level."
In addition, DJHA and other Dallas Stars Travel Hockey League (DSTHL) Associations throughout Texas and Oklahoma will be partnering with Dallas Stars Tournaments to actively promote all four Dallas Stars Travel Tournaments to their contacts in other states and countries with the goal of attracting better competition to Dallas-Fort Worth area tournaments and raising the visibility of the market as a viable hockey tournament option where teams can expect top competition and an NHL-level experience.
