The Dallas Stars announced today details for the franchise's 25th Anniversary Season Celebration during the 2017-18 season, including the retirement of number 26 in honor of former Stars right wing Jere Lehtinen, the season opening Victory Green Carpet Walk, Reunion Nights at American Airlines Center and Retro Night.
The Stars will retire the number 26 in honor of former Stars right wing Jere Lehtinen on Friday, Nov. 24 against the Calgary Flames. The three-time Frank J. Selke Trophy winner as the NHL's top defensive forward spent his entire 14-season NHL career in Dallas where he recorded 514 points (243-271=514) in 875 career regular-season games. Lehtinen's No. 26 will be the fifth sweater to be retired by the franchise and the third since the team moved to Texas. Lehtinen joins Neal Broten (No. 7), Bill Goldsworthy (No. 8), Mike Modano (No. 9) and Bill Masterton (No. 19) as the only players in franchise history to have their number retired. Single event tickets for this special event will be made available for sale at a later date. Fans can purchase a ticket plan at DallasStars.com to guarantee access now, or sign up to Dallas Stars Insider for on-sale information. Prior to the club's season opener on Friday, Oct. 6 against the Vegas Golden Knights, the Victory Green Carpet Walk will commence at 4 p.m. in Victory Plaza and will feature current and former Dallas Stars players, coaches, alumni and team executives. As part of the 25th Anniversary Celebration, Stars Day One season ticket holders that have been with the organization continuously since the 1993-94 season will also have the opportunity to walk down the Victory Green carpet beginning at 6 p.m. The pre-game event is free and open to the public, with fans able to start lining up to watch the carpet walk beginning at 3 p.m.
The Stars will also host Reunion Nights at American Airlines Center on select Saturday nights during the 2017-18 season, welcoming home Dallas Stars legends such as Guy Carbonneau, Shane Churla, Brenden Morrow, Todd Harvey, Marty Turco, Jamie Langenbrunner and Ed Belfour with many more to be announced at a later date. Reunion Nights at American Airlines Center will feature pre-game ceremonies honoring Stars legends, autograph sessions and limited edition merchandise available exclusively at The Hangar team stores. Season ticket holders and corporate partners will have the opportunity to participate in special meet and greets with Dallas Stars legends before and after games.
On Saturday, Feb. 3 against the Minnesota Wild, the Stars will turn back the clock to the 1993-94 campaign with Retro Night. In celebration of the first season of hockey in the Lone Star State, the club will welcome back members of the 1993-94 Dallas Stars, including Dave Gagner, Andy Moog, Neal Broten and Craig Ludwig. Special 1993 pricing on select concession stand items will be available. During pre-game warmups, the team will wear the home sweater that was worn during the inaugural season at Reunion Arena. In the spirit of the evening, in-game entertainment throughout the game will mirror what fans experienced at Stars games during the 1993-94 season.
