FRISCO, Tex. -- Dallas Stars General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today that the club has placed defenseman Trevor Daley on the injured reserve list and recalled defenseman Niklas Grossman from Iowa, Dallas' primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Daley, 23, was placed on injured reserve after suffering a concussion on Nov. 24 vs. Los Angeles. He has appeared in 22 games this season, posting one goal and four assists for five points with 39 penalty minutes and a +3 rating. The 5-11, 207-pound defenseman ranks third on the team in blocked shots (30) during his second full season with the Stars.
The Toronto, Ontario native has appeared in 130 career NHL games with Dallas, notching five goals and 20 assists for 25 points with 140 penalty minutes. Dallas' second round selection (43rd overall) in 2002, missed just one game last season with the Stars due to the flu.
Grossman, 21, has appeared in 20 games with the Iowa Stars, registering two goals and one assist for three points with a team-leading +9 rating and 16 penalty minutes. He will be looking to make his NHL debut after appearing in three preseason games with the Stars during their 2006 exhibition schedule.
The 6-3, 206-pound defenseman played in his first professional season with Iowa last season, collecting five points (2-3-5) with 49 penalty minutes in 61 games. Dallas second round selection (56th overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Grossman served as the captain for Team Sweden at the 2005 World Junior Championships.
