Brunnstrom assigned to Texas for conditioning; Fortunus also assigned to Texas

Frisco, Tex. – The Dallas Stars announced today that the club has assigned left wing Fabian Brunnstrom to the Texas Stars, Dallas’ primary affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL), for a conditioning assignment. He is scheduled to rejoin the Dallas Stars in Montreal when they face the Canadiens on January 14. Defenseman Maxime Fortunus has also been reassigned to Texas.


Brunnstrom, 24, has skated in 23 games for Dallas this season, collecting one goal and six assists. The 6-2, 212-pound left wing played in 55 games for the Stars in his first NHL season in 2008-09, recording 29 points (17g, 12a). The Jonstorp, Sweden native skated for Farjestads BK of the Swedish Elite League in 2007-08, notching nine goals and 28 assists in 54 games. He was signed as a free agent by Dallas on May 8, 2008.

Fortunus
Fortunus, 26, has skated in five games for Dallas, going scoreless with two penalty minutes. He was recalled from Texas on Dec. 18. Fortunus signed as a free agent with Dallas on July 3, 2008. He has appeared in 30 games for Texas, scoring five goals and four assists for nine points and 12 penalty minutes.

The Dallas Stars will face the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday night (7:00 pm, TV: FOX Sports Southwest, Radio: Sports Radio 1310 The Ticket).
