Ah yes, the climb up the charts continue. Going into Monday’s game in New York, the Stars ranked #30 in the NHL in goals against. Not good at all. But, after Marty Turco gave up a goal in the first minute of the first period, they responded by stopping 27 of the next 27 shots and getting a key win against the Rangers 2-1. And now, the Stars are up to 27th in the NHL in goals against!
There were still a huge number of chances against Marty, and the defense needs to tighten things up, but after the last week of performances that have fallen short of the target, I am pretty sure everyone will breathe a bit better in New York on Tuesday, before a tangle with Jamie Langenbrunner and the New Jersey Devils in their new barn on Wednesday night.
Another nice thing to see was the game winner from Mike Modano. I love it when Modano looks challenged, and it seems the talk of him being an old man has challenged him. Razor mentioned he wants to lead the team in scoring again – for the 12th time. I am a pretty big fan of his line with James Neal on one side and BJ Crombeen on the other.
Now, on to New Jersey, where we should all enjoy Mr Avery visiting the crease of Mr Broduer.

5 seconds of fun from last spring from a perspective I haven’t seen before – Game 6’s winner versus San Jose
Speaking of the Rangers, here are Don Maloney, Ron Duguay, Anders Hedberg, Ron Greschner and Phil Esposito featuring in a couple of sweet Sasson Jeans Commercial from the 1970s...wow
