The division leading Stars continue a five-game road swing with games against the New York Rangers, New York Islanders & New Jersey Devils this week. Get a glimpse of what went on behind the scenes as the team travels to the East Coast.

DAY ONE (12/16/11) - GAME DAY - NEW JERSEY DEVILS

2:51 am - The Stars return home collecting 6 of a possible 10 points on the 6,400 mile road trip with their two back up goaltenders; you have to feel good about that.


2:49 am - Downtown Dallas comes into view for the first time in ten days as the Stars charter turns onto final approach.


12:02 am - The pilots run through their pre-flight routine prior to closing the doors.


10:50 pm - The Stars locker room is empty well in advance of the 11:10 pm bus to Newark airport.


10:48 pm - Michael Ryder became the third Star with double-digit goals this season.


10:46 pm - Steve Sumner loads the Stars gear one last time before playing games six of the next seven at home.


10:45 pm - Brenden Morrow addresses the media after the game; he said, ``It's hard to say five minutes after a loss, but 3-2 doesn't sound so good. We had the opportunity to make it a great trip, going coast to coast, California to New York, at 4-1. It would have been quite an accomplishment, so we're a disappointed bunch right now.''


10:31 pm - Mike Ribeiro brings the puck into the offensive zone one final time.


10:30 pm - Alex Goligoski and Sheldon Souray talk before an offensive zone draw late in the game.


10:30 pm - Johan Hedberg allowed 3 goals on 36 shots, but the effort was enough to beat his former team.


 


10:18 pm - As the game winds down, Donny White packs up the game sticks.

9:22 pm - According to the Hockey Dictionary, an alternate spelling for pesky is 'Ott'.


9:14 pm - Mike Ribeiro rips the tape off his blade during a TV timeout.


 


9:10 pm - The Devils tie the game just two minutes later.


9:09 pm - Stars' East Coast scout, Danny O'Brien, takes notes during the 1st period.


 


9:07 pm - With Brenden Morrow's late 2nd period goal, the Stars captain has 5 points (3 goals, 2 assists) on the road trip.


9:07 pm - The Stars bench comes to life as Brenden Morrow gives the Stars a 2-1 lead at the beginning of the 2nd period.


9:04 pm - Joe Nieuwendyk and Stu Barnes talk during a break in play.

7:15 pm - Soon, Scott Niedermayer's number 27 will join Scott Stevens & Ken Daneyko's in the rafters.


7:14 pm - Scott Nidermayer was quick to thank the players on both benches for their willingness to participate in the night, knowing that events like this one interrupt their normal routines.


 


7:05 pm - The Stars come onto the bench for the ceremony.


 


7:03 pm - The Prudential Center comes to their feet as Scott Nidermayer enters.


7:01 pm - Trevor Daley watches the ceremony from the tunnel to the dressing room.

6:43 pm - The building equipment guy loads the refrigerator in the Stars dressing room with water.


 


6:41 pm - The Stars locker room sits empty as the guys get warmed up and stretched out.


6:40 pm - While others play Donkey Ball to get loose, Eric Nystrom goes through his own pregame warm up routine.


6:29 pm - Bob Sturm, filling in for Daryl Reaugh, downloads his sports brain in preparation for the night's broadcast.


6:05 pm - Jamie Benn plays a little volleyball with Donny White before the traditional Donkey Ball game.


6:04 pm - Stephane Robidas asks about the teams plans for the Niedermayer ceremony.


6:03 pm - Coach Glen Gulutzan talks with hockey historian and broadcaster, Stan Fischler.


6:00 pm - Mark Fistric looks over the scouting reports prior to getting dressed.


5:57 pm - The in-arena crew run through final preparation for the Scott Niedermayer ceremony.


5:24 pm - The team bus received a police escort to avoid traffic between the hotel and the arena.


4:58 pm - The team bus waits outside the hotel before the final game of the Stars cross continent road trip that took them 6,400 miles to 5 cities in 10 days.


12:29 pm - Ralph Strangis and Bob Sturm make their way into the New Jersey home of BaD Radio, where Ralph sits in for an absent Dan McDowell.


12:06 pm - Toby Petersen requests something musically off the beaten trail, so Andrew Raycroft calls up The Rural Alberta Advantage on his iPhone. It was really good.


11:57 am - Toby Petersen shoots on Andrew Raycroft; they were two of only four players who opted to skate after a late night on Long Island.


10:46 am - The New Jersey Devils gather at center ice at the end of their morning skate.


10:35 am - Cody Eastwood sets up his editing suite just outside the Stars dressing room.


10:26 am - A small group of players attended the optional morning skate at the Prudential Center.
