The first meeting of the season between the Sharks and Avalanche was one to remember. Colorado changed the momentum of the entire game as it gained the lead with only a couple minutes left in the third period. Just when it seemed over, it was a Christmas miracle that brought joy to all the boys and girls around the world.
It was an eventful Monday for Bay Area fans as it was also the (potential) last game at Candlestick.
NHL outdoor game in Northern California?
Thornton already came into the game with some impressive stats.
Things got off to a quick start.
Finally it was time for the Sharks first power play of the night and Daddy delivers!
The Sharks were strong in the second period and it was definitely some fun hockey to watch.
Cheering was so loud Santa could hear from the North Pole.
The Sharks weren't making it easy for the Avs goalie.
Meanwhile during the game ....
Captain America came to save the day!
Joe Thornton became the leader in assists (35) this season after his third assist of the night.
Overtime consisted of one Sharks power play and five minutes of anxiety, stress, and holding of breath.
