Ulf Dahlen was drafted seventh overall by the New York Rangers in the 1985 NHL Entry Draft. Dahlen recorded 655 points in 966 career NHL games over fourteen seasons. A native of Sweden, Dahlen was traded to the Sharks on March 19, 1994 along with a 7th round pick for Doug Zmolek and Mike Lalor. With the aquisition of Dahlen, the Sharks moved on to the playoffs for the first time in franchise history.
