Additionally, during the month of December HP Pavilion at San Jose, Sharks Ice at San Jose and Sharks Ice at Fremont will be official donation locations for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves Toys For Tots program. Sharks fans can assist by dropping off a new and unwrapped toy any time during business hours (for HP Pavilion at San Jose 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at the South Entrance on the corner of Santa Clara and Autumn Streets). All donations will be distributed to children in Santa Clara County and the surrounding area. Toys and items for older children (age 13-17) are especially in need.

ABOUT TOYS FOR TOTS
The goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to needy children that will teach them to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders. We know from the smiles on children's faces and the appreciation from their parents that the simple gift of a shiny, new toy - something that many take for granted - can make a tremendous difference in the life of a child. Help bring hope to our local children!
ABOUT THE SHARKS FOUNDATION:
The Sharks Foundation is dedicated to enhancing the lives of youth and families in our community with an emphasis in the areas of Education, Heath and Safety, and Character Development. The Sharks Foundation supplies emergency aid when appropriate, executes unique and relevant programming, supports the advancement of youth hockey and provides financial support and resources to organizations that enrich the lives of those in need. Although the San Jose Sharks and the Sharks Foundation support a variety of community programs on various levels, we feel that the key to the long-term well-being of our community is our youth.
The San Jose Sharks are as deeply involved with the neighborhood we live in as we are with the game that we play. As role models, we feel responsible to give back to the community that so strongly supports us.
To this end, the Sharks Foundation was created in 1994 in an effort to increase our organizational impact on Santa Clara County. With the help of Sharks players, coaches and staff, the Sharks Foundation invests in the community with the hope of enhancing the lives of our youth. It quickly evolved and expanded beyond its original charter and has since donated over $4.1 million to more than 85 local beneficiaries. During the 2009-10 season, its contribution to local youth programs and organizations totaled $256,898 through monetary grants. In addition to the original grant program, the Sharks Foundation manages educational programs, hosts major fundraisers, executes pledge programs and implements community outreach events.
