To celebrate Sharks history, each week we will highlight moments of the past. So check back to the Daily Chomp each week to celebrate with us for Throwback Thursday. In addition, we will be giving away special Sharks throwback items every Thursday.

This week the Daily Chomp takes a look at the Sharks 2002-03 season.

Did you know... Patrick Marleau played in his 400th NHL game on Oct. 19, 2002 vs. Colorado. At that time, he was the youngest player (23 years, 34 days) to accomplish the feat since Bob Carpenter in April 1986 (22 years, 268 days).

  • Vincent Damphousse became the 71st player to score 400 NHL goals with his tally on Oct. 17 at Edmonton.
  • Named Ron Wilson head coach and Tim Hunter and Rob Zettler assistant coaches, Dec. 4, 2002.
  • Teemu Selanne was voted to the starting lineup for the Western Conference at the NHL All-Star Game.
  • Doug Wilson named executive vice president and general manager, May 13, 2003.
  • Six players scored their first NHL goal — RW Jonathan Cheechoo, D Jim Fahey, LW Lynn Loyns, RW Niko Dimitrakos, D Rob Davison and RW Miroslav Zalesak.
  • Jim Fahey led all NHL rookie defensemen in points (1-19=20), despite playing in only 43 NHL games.
  • Evgeni Nabokov became the franchise leader in games played, minutes played and decisions.
  • Acquired D Dan McGillis, D Kyle McLaren, C Alyn McCauley, and C Brad Boyes.
