SAN JOSE - The San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) announced today that Joe Thornton has been selected as the Sharks Foundation "Sharks Player of the Year" for 2015-16 in a vote by the Bay Area media. The award is given to the player contributing most to the success of the Sharks in the 2015-16 regular season.

The award will be presented prior to tonight's game against the Arizona Coyotes at SAP Center at San Jose.

It is the third time Thornton has been named "Sharks Player of the Year." Thornton was also named "Sharks Player of the Year" in 2005-06 and 2006-07.
