Thornton Continues To Lead All Western Conference Vote-Getters In NHL All-Star Balloting

Players from the San Jose Sharks and the Anaheim Ducks hold half of the top-10 spots among Western Conference vote-getters in the COLD-fX/NHL All-Star Fan Balloting, Presented by 2K Sports.
 

Sharks forward Joe Thornton and Ducks defenseman Scott Niedermayer lead the Western Conference with 614,753 and 540,380 votes, respectively. Thornton’s teammates Jonathan Cheechoo (407,486) and Patrick Marleau (394,710) are ranked seventh and eighth, while Anaheim defenseman Chris Pronger is ninth with 389,342 votes. To date, more than 25 million votes have been cast in the all-digital voting program.
 
The leading vote-getters by position are forwards Thornton, Colorado Avalanche center Joe Sakic (431,961) and Cheechoo; defensemen Niedermayer and Nicklas Lidstrom of the Detroit Red Wings (522,345); and Vancouver Canucks goaltender Roberto Luongo (438,155).
 
The 2007 NHL All-Star Celebration, hosted by the American Airlines Center in Dallas, will feature live national broadcasts of the Dodge Nitro/NHL SuperSkills event on Tuesday, Jan. 23, and the NHL All-Star Game on Wednesday, Jan. 24 on VERSUS in the United States and CBC and RDS in Canada starting at 8 p.m., ET.
