Some would call it a landslide, others would call it ballot box stuffing... I call it being the best.
In October, the Mercury News conducted the "2005 Halloween Face-off" contest to determine what celebrity San Jose wanted to dress up as for Halloween. After five celebrities were selected and announced, voting began on-line at mercurynews.com.
From the outset it seemed unfair. What do Martha Stewart, Tiger Woods, Paris Hilton or TomKat (half Tom Cruise - half Katie Holmes) have on me?
Right from the start, I held my own with percentages of the votes ranging from 80-90%, and despite a late vote surge from the Martha Stewart fan club, I won with an unprecedented 72%.
This election proved that San Jose was not a red city or blue city, but a teal city. Because of the votes of our fans, my face was printed as a full page mask that you could cut out and wear to your local Halloween party, or an upcoming Sharks game. For this honor I would like to thank all the Sharks fans for their votes!
Final vote percentage: Sharkie 72%, Martha Stewart 9%, Paris Hilton 8%, TomKat 7% and Tiger Woods 4%
