Sims Recycling Solutions/San Jose Sharks Collect Old Electronics

by Staff Writer / San Jose Sharks
SAN JOSE, California – Sims Recycling Solutions, the world’s largest electronics recycler, is partnering with the San Jose Sharks for the second consecutive year to encourage the community and hockey fans to recycle their electronics. The event will be held in the main parking lot (Lot ABC) of HP Pavilion at San Jose located at 525 West Santa Clara Street, San Jose, CA on January 7, 2012 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Everyone who drops off an item to recycle will be able to watch the team’s pre-game morning skate and will also receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win exclusive autographed Shark’s merchandise and memorabilia.

This e-waste collection event will be set up as a drive through and drop off event. Staff will be on hand to conveniently and quickly collect items from community members’ vehicles. For those who plan to recycle a monitor or television, please print and complete the collection log found at the www.us.simsrecycling.com/sharks website to ensure faster processing.

Sims Recycling Solutions will accept the following: computers, laptops, monitors, keyboards, mice, printers, PDAs, cell phones, telephones, televisions, radios, stereos, speakers, MP3 players, CD and DVD players, and VCRs. Sims Recycling Solutions is unable to accept batteries, household appliances, microwave ovens, smoke detectors, ink or toner cartridges, and cans or bottles.

“The holidays have passed and with consumer electronics being one of the top gifts of the season, many older electronics will have been replaced,” stated Steve Skurnac, President, Sims Recycling Solutions, Americas. “This collection event will provide a well-timed opportunity for the San Jose community to properly recycle their unwanted electronics. Together, the Sharks and Sims Recycling Solutions are providing individuals with access to a safe and responsible e-waste recycling method that safeguards their personal data and the environment.”

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency estimates that recycling one million laptops saves the equivalent of the electricity used in 3,657 US homes a year. Sims Recycling Solutions is a proud sponsor of the San Jose Sharks and the Sharks Green Territory webpage.
