Sharks welcome Karlsson to San Jose with billboard, newspaper ad

Defenseman was traded by Senators on Thursday

The San Jose Sharks went big to welcome Erik Karlsson to the neighborhood.

The Sharks greeted the two-time Norris Trophy-winning defenseman to the Bay Area with a collection of billboards and an ad in a local newspaper Sunday.

Before departing for California, Karlsson shared a picture of himself with some sharks.

The Sharks acquired Karlsson from the Ottawa Senators on Thursday. Aside from the billboards, which are scattered around Northern California, San Jose introduced the stalwart defenseman with a full-page ad that details his accomplishments in the Sunday edition of The Mercury-News.
