SAN JOSE, CA - The National Hockey League announced today that the San Jose Sharks will open their 2022-23 season in Prague, Czech Republic as part of 2022 NHL Global Series. The team is slated to play two games in a "home and home" series against the Nashville Predators at O2 Arena on Friday Oct. 7 and Saturday Oct. 8. The Sharks will also travel to Berlin, Germany prior to their games in Prague to complete their training camp in an exhibition match against Eisbären Berlin at Mercedes-Benz Arena on Oct. 4.
The Sharks will broadcast all games live on the Sharks Audio Network via the Sharks + SAP Center App presented by Western Digital. A local television broadcast schedule will be announced at a later date.
In addition to the Sharks and Predators matches, the Avalanche and Blue Jackets will face off in a pair of regular-season games at Nokia Arena in Tampere, Finland, on Friday, Nov. 4 and Saturday, Nov. 5.

"I am very excited to be playing in my country next year," said Hertl. "It is my home and where I started my pro hockey career and I can have all of my family and friends in the building watch me play an NHL game with the Sharks."
Other Czech players in the Sharks system include Adam Raska (San Jose Barracuda).
This will mark the second time the Sharks have played on European soil, last appearing in the 2010 NHL Premiere in Stockholm, Sweden, and third appearance in a contest outside North America. The team also took part in the NHL's Game One event in Tokyo, Japan when the team held "home and home" regular season games against the Calgary Flames to start the 1998-99 campaign.
The 2022 NHL Global Series will mark the ninth season overall that the NHL has traveled to Europe to play regular-season games. To date, there have been five NHL regular-season games played in the Czech Republic, which have all been played at O2 Arena in Prague. Tickets to the 2022 NHL Global Series will go on sale to the public on Friday, April 29 and the 2022 Global Series Challenge on Monday, May 9. For fans interested in attending the games, more information will be provided soon on a limited number of official travel packages available for purchase.
