SAN JOSE, CA - In observance of Black History Month, the San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) will host Black History Night presented by the Teal For Change Council on Monday, February 15 prior to its home game vs. the Anaheim Ducks at 7:30 p.m. Virtual activations will include a panel discussion for fans focusing on diversity and inclusion from 6 - 7 p.m., a Sharks player-worn jersey auction with proceeds benefitting the African American Community Service Agency in San Jose, and much more.

"The San Jose Sharks are proud to host Black History Night, another opportunity to provide an outlet for all parties to come together to continue the conversation about diversity and inclusion and how we can continue to make progress in our own community," said Heather Hooper, Director of Community Relations and Sharks Foundation. "This promises to be an excellent chance for fans to listen and be heard and I hope that many will take advantage by registering and participating."

Sharks Black History Night activities will begin at 6 p.m. with a free, virtual panel discussion for fans that will focus on the role professional teams and players play in dismantling the social injustice and inequity in America. The panel will feature Milan Balinton, Executive Director of the African American Community Service Agency in San Jose as well as several Sharks executives, including President Jonathan Becher (@JBecher), and members of the Sharks Teal For Change Council. The panel discussion will last an hour and is free to all registrants. To register for the Black History Night Panel Discussion, click here.

Additionally, prior to the game, Sharks players will wear jerseys inspired by Black History Month during warm-ups. The warm-up jerseys are designed by Sharks employee and artist Mohamed Fofana (@mfthebrand). The warm-up jerseys will be available for purchase via an online auction with proceeds benefitting the African American Community Service Agency in San Jose. To bid on the jerseys, text "sharksgroups" to 76278 to register or visit sharksgroups.givesmart.com and select register now.

In June 2020, Sharks Sports & Entertainment (SSE) established the Teal For Change Council, a council comprised of volunteers from the organization's front office who have been tasked with identifying and developing ways that SSE can use their platform to encourage positive change both within our organization and throughout the Bay Area community.
