Sharks Support A's Fundraiser

by Staff Writer / San Jose Sharks

Sharks announcers Dan Rusanowsky and Randy Hahn, along with the loveable mascot S.J. Sharkie, participated in the Oakland Athletics Seventh Annual A’s MUG Root Beer Float Day, with all proceeds benefiting the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The event raised more than $40,000.

Current and former A’s players, coaches and wives along with celebrities from local sports teams and radio and television personalities served root beer floats in the East Side Club today from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. The root beer floats were $2 each and additional money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation was raised through tips given in exchange for autographs and pictures with the celebrity scoopers.

Additional proceeds were raised through the sale of Eric Chavez, Bobby Crosby or Nick Swisher autographed mugs, a silent auction of sports memorabilia and an on-line auction titled “Be a Celebrity Scooper."

MUG Root Beer Float Day is sponsored by Pepsi and Comcast. The ice cream for the event is donated by Berkeley Farms.
