by Staff Writer / San Jose Sharks
San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has signed right wing Ashton Rome to a three-year deal. In keeping with club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
After attending the 2006 Pacific Division Shootout with San Jose, Rome was assigned to the Worcester Sharks camp on Sept. 15.
Rome split the 2005-06 season between Red Deer and Kamloops of the WHL, finishing as the Blazers leading scorer with 64 points (30 goals, 34 assists) in 65 games, along with 130 penalty minutes.
The six-foot-two, 205-pound native of Nesbitt, Manitoba was selected by San Jose in the fifth round (143rd overall) in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
Rome was previously chosen by the Boston Bruins in the third round (108th overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
