Chrona, 22, completed his decorated collegiate career at the University of Denver by earning NCHC Goaltender of the Year and First-Team All-NCHC honors after going 22-8-0 with a .915 Save Percentage (SV%) and conference-best 2.19 Goals-Against Average (GAA) in the regular season. In his four-year tenure of NCAA competition, Chrona helped the Pioneers win the 2022 National Championship, was named to the 2022 Frozen Four All-Tournament Team, won the NCHC Three Stars Award in 2021-22 and 2022-23, was All-NCHC Honorable Mention in 2021-22 and was a member of the NCHC All-Rookie Team in 2019-20.
He is also a four-time NCHC Academic All-Conference honoree and earned NCHC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete recognition all four years. He finished his collegiate career tied for second in Denver history with 13 shutouts, fourth with 71 wins, sixth with a 2.20 GAA and 10th with a .914 SV%.
Prior to his NCAA stint, Chrona played in 26 games with Skelleftea AIK of Sweden's J20 SuperElit league, registering a 4.00 GAA and .889 SV% in the 2018-19 season. He posted a 2.13 GAA and .931 SV% in 15 games in the under-18 Elit league as well as a 1.14 GAA and .954 SV% in seven U-18 Allsvenskan contests in 2017-18.
The six-foot-four, 194-pound native of Stockholm, Sweden was acquired by the Sharks on April 12, 2021 from the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for defenseman Fredrik Claesson. He was originally selected by Tampa Bay in the 2018 NHL Draft (fifth round, 152nd overall).
