San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has recalled forward Devin Setoguchi from the Worcester Sharks, San Jose’s top development affiliate in the American Hockey League.
Setoguchi, 21, became the first Sharks player to score two goals in his NHL debut on Oct. 29 at Dallas. In all, he posted eight goals and two assists in 24 games with San Jose before being reassigned to Worcester on Dec. 28. In two stints with Worcester, he posted 9 points (1-8=9) in 12 games.
Setoguchi is expected to be in the lineup with the Sharks face Detroit at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at HP Pavilion. Sharks Head Coach Ron Wilson did not note whose spot Setoguchi would be taking.
The six-foot, 205-pound native of Taber, Alberta was originally selected by San Jose in the first round (8th overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
McLAREN UPDATE There is a chance Kyle McLaren, who had his knee cleaned out on Monday via minor surgery, could be back in the lineup following the All-Star break.
