On Monday, the San Jose Sharks recalled defenseman Josh Gorges from Worcester, the Sharks top development affiliate in the American Hockey League.
Gorges has appeared in 13 games with San Jose this season, posting 12 penalty minutes.
After being assigned to Worcester on Nov. 16, the six-foot-one, 195-pound native of Kelowna, British Columbia notched one assist in seven games with San Jose’s top AHL affiliate.
In a related move, the Sharks placed left wing Milan Michalek on the Injured Reserve list retroactive to Nov. 22 and he will be eligible to return to action for San Jose on their Wednesday battle with Minnesota in St. Paul. Jonathan Cheechoo is also currently on the injured reserve list and can play as soon as he’s declared fit.
Setoguchi and Wishart Face Russians
Sharks prospects RW Devin Setoguchi and D Ty Wishart have been selected to represent the Western Hockey League in their battle with Russian junior players. The challenge is already under way with having already played the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League twice.
The contests with the WHL will be held November 29 and 30.
