Sharks Recall Jamie McGinn, Roenick on IR

by San Jose Sharks Staff / San Jose Sharks
SAN JOSE – San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has recalled forward Jamie McGinn from the Worcester Sharks, the team’s top development affiliate in the American Hockey League.

McGinn was previously recalled to San Jose from Oct. 27 thru Nov. 7. He made his NHL debut with the Sharks on Oct. 28 against Pittsburgh, scored two points (1-1=2) against the Detroit Red Wings in his second NHL game and scored the game-winning goal on Nov. 4 vs. Minnesota. In five games, he posted three points (2-1=3).

In 22 games with Worcester, McGinn is fifth on the team in scoring with 15 points (eight goals, seven assists) and fourth in goals.

He was originally selected by San Jose in the second round (36th overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

In a related move, the Sharks placed forward Jeremy Roenick on injured reserve retroactive to Dec. 11. J.R. will have arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder on Monday and will likely be out longer than the expected three weeks as was reported earlier in the week.

Sharks center Joe Pavelski is still day-to-day with a lower body injury. He did not practice on Sunday, but was working out in the weight room at Sharks Ice at San Jose.

Sharks right wing Jonathan Cheechoo is still listed as day-to-day, however he is doubtful for Monday's game against the Los Angeles Kings.
