San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has recalled forward Steve Bernier from the Worcester Sharks (AHL).
Bernier posted seven points (three goals, four assists) in 10 AHL games since being assigned to Worcester on Jan. 2, including scoring the game-winning goal against Springfield on Feb. 17. He missed 12 games with a foot injury, suffered on Jan. 14 in Portland.
"My foot is not perfect, but it doesn't hurt when I skate and I am able to play the game," said Bernier.
In 39 games with San Jose this season, Bernier collected 25 points (11 goals, 24 assists), which placed him fourth on the team at the time of his reassignment. The later season call-up last year knows the Sharks could use a little spark as well as some offense.
"I'm going to do everything possible to help the team win," said Bernier. "We need to be going in the right direction for the playoffs."
With Patrick Marleau
's return to the ice still day-to-day, Bernier could find himself on a line with Mark Bell and Milan Michalek.
"I don't care what line I'm on, I just want to play," said Bernier.
