Heed played in 52 games for Skelleftea AIK last season, recording eight goals, 15 assists and a plus-six rating in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). He ranked 11th in scoring amongst defensemen, T-4th in goals amongst defensemen, and T-12th in assists amongst blueliners in Sweden's top men's league. In 16 playoff games, the defenseman posted three goals and six assists as Skelleftea finished runner-up to Frolunda. In 191 career SHL games with Skelleftea and Vaxjo, Heed registered 21 goals, 55 assists and a plus-13 rating.
The defenseman has represented his native country of Sweden in the Euro Hockey Tour on two separate occasions (2014 & 2015), scoring a goal and plus-three rating in three games. Heed also represented his country at the junior level, tallying four goals and seven assists in 12 games for Sweden.
The five-foot-eleven, 175-pound native of Goteborg, Sweden was originally drafted in the fifth round (132nd overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft by the Anaheim Ducks. He was signed as a free agent by San Jose on May 24, 2016. Heed will wear No. 72 for the Sharks.
