Sharks Ready to Open 2008 Training Camp

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- San Jose Sharks Rookie camp begins today at Sharks Ice at San Jose with 24 players scheduled to hit the ice Friday and Saturday, before playing the Anaheim Ducks rookies at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, NV.


The teams are scheduled to scrimmage on Sept. 14 and Sept. 15 before playing a game at 7:00 PM (Pacific) on Sept. 16, which will be open to those who have purchased tickets.

Included on San Jose’s rookie roster are former first round draft selections Logan Couture (2007) and Mike Morris (2002), along with Jamie McGinn (2007, 2nd round), Steven Zalewski (4th round, 2004) and Tyson Sexsmith (3rd round, 2007) among others. Beginning Sept. 13, players who have less than 50 games of NHL experience (U-50s) will begin practicing at Sharks Ice daily. Then on Sept. 20, the veterans and NHL regulars will join the rookies on the ice for the first day of full training camp. A complete Sharks Training Camp roster can be found by clicking here.

The training camp roster will be broken up into three squads (Teams A, B and C) and their schedules will vary for the first three days of camp (Sept. 20, 21 and 22). All Training camp sessions at Sharks Ice are open to the public.
