Hannan spent the first eight years of his career in San Jose, playing in 508 games. Following 2013-14, Hannan has played in 568 regular season and 76 postseason games with the Sharks, which ranks tied for fifth and fifth in the organization's history, respectively.

The six-foot-one, 215-pound native of Richmond, British Columbia, was originally selected by San Jose in the first round (23rd overall) in the 1997 draft.

"I'm going to come into the year and coming here with the anticipation of playing and we'll see where it goes from there," said Hannan via conference call. "I'm willing to help out any way I can to move this team forward and get to that ultimate goal and I think we have a great shot at winning this year for everything and every reason."
