Sharks Radio Broadcasts Enhanced By Television Support

by Staff Writer / San Jose Sharks

Overall coverage of the San Jose Sharks Flagship Radio Station 98.5 KFOX (KUFX-FM) in the nine-county Bay Area has taken another major step forward through its availability on Comcast Cable channel 975, a digital cable music channel.

The new arrangement improves KFOX coverage of Sharks broadcasts in areas where it was previously unavailable, most notably in many areas of easternContraCostaCounty , along with parts of Sonoma andMarinCounties .  Along with the signals provided by affiliate stations KVON-AM 1440 in Napa and KOMY-AM 1340 in Monterey-Salinas-Santa Cruz, overall Bay Area radio coverage of Sharks hockey continues to grow.

“We have heard our fans’ requests in parts of the Bay Area for more Sharks Radio Network coverage, and this arrangement will blend nicely with our network affiliate stations throughout the region,” said Sharks play-by-play broadcaster Dan Rusanowsky.  “Our broadcast partners at 98.5 KFOX have done an excellent job in adding a Tri-Valley Area booster transmitter, and they have now put together an outstanding arrangement with Comcast that will allow the station’s audience to grow considerably in all day-parts.”

While the digital cable coverage of KFOX is not currently available in all areas, this availability is expected to improve in the future.

KFOX, owned and operated by Clear Channel Radio (NYSE: CCU), carries all Sharks regular season and playoff games.  They also feature highly-rated classic rock programming, including the popular Greg Kihn morning show, which airs the “Kihn and the Coach” feature with coach Ron Wilson each Tuesday during hockey season.
