San Jose Sharks prospect Samuel Groulx was named the TELUS Player of the week for Sept. 19 – Oct. 9. In only four games, the Quebec Remparts defenseman registered two goals and five assists for seven points. Groulx also had a plus-4 rating, collected nine shots and five hits while helping the Remparts win three out of four games. Groulx was acquired by the Sharks in the 4th round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
Prospect Marek Viedensky of the Prince George Cougars currently leads his team with eight points (2-6=8). The 6-foot-4 center has tallied a point in six of his last eight games and has earned points in the last four consecutive games. The Sharks second round pick in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft was also named to the Slovak national team and collected four assists in seven games, helping Slovakia to a fourth place finish in the 2009 World Junior Hockey Championship in Ottawa, ON.
