by San Jose Sharks Staff / San Jose Sharks
SAN JOSE – All three Bay Area Sharks Ice facilities are set to participate in USA Hockey’s Hockey Weekend Across America by offering special discounts and free clinics on Feb. 18 thru 20.

Hockey Weekend Across America was created by USA Hockey in 2008 to engage the hockey community in celebrating the sport of hockey at all levels and exposing the sport to new audiences

The fourth annual Hockey Weekend Across America, presented by Reebok, will be a three-day celebration of the sport of hockey that will take place Feb. 18-20 nationwide.

Each of the three days associated with Hockey Weekend Across America has a theme, including ”Wear Your Favorite Hockey Jersey,” on Friday; “Bring A Friend to the Rink”, on Saturday and “Celebrate Local Hockey Heroes”, on Sunday.

Locally at Sharks Ice at San Jose, Sharks Ice at Fremont and the Oakland Ice Center Operated by Sharks Ice, Bay Area skaters can take advantage of the following promotions:

Fri, Feb. 18: WEAR YOUR FAVORITE HOCKEY JERSEY DAY
  • Anyone wearing their favorite hockey jersey (does not have to be an NHL team) will receive 50% off of any Sharks Ice public skating session
Sat., Feb. 19: BRING A FRIEND TO THE RINK DAY
  • Fans are encouraged to bring a friend or family member who has never been to a live hockey game to attend a youth, junior, college or professional game in the Bay Area.
  • All Sharks Ice facilities will be offering a limited number of opportunities to try hockey for free, designed for ages 4-12 who have never tried the game before. Visit the Sharks Ice facility websites for times and registration info.
Sun., Feb. 20: CELEBRATE LOCAL HOCKEY HEROES DAY
  • Anyone wearing a Sharks jersey to any Sharks Ice public skating session will receive 50% off the price of admission.
In addition, the Sharks will be promoting Hockey Weekend Across America via public address announcements during the team’s Feb. 17 and Feb. 19 home games.
