Sharks Help To Fight Breast Cancer

by Staff Writer / San Jose Sharks
Three San Jose Sharks players will assist in raising funds to fight breast cancer.  Scott Hannan, Mark Smith, and Mark Bell will use pink sticks as a tribute to moms everywhere when the Sharks take on the Columbus Blue Jackets at home on March 16 and on the road when the Sharks face off against the Colorado Avalanche on March 18.
The autographed sticks will raise awareness for breast cancer and will be available for auction through eBay.  All funds raised will go towards supporting breast cancer research through the NHL/NHLPA’s Hockey Fights Cancer program and its Canadian charity partner, the Canadian Cancer Society.
"Breast cancer affects so many women today,” said Bell.  “I think what the league is doing is great and I'm proud to be a part of it because it’s for a great cause."
This is the second annual tribute to hockey moms and the NHL-wide event will place from Mar. 16, 17, and 18 at NHL games.
Last year the event raised over $150,000 dollars for breast cancer research.
