Before settling in front of the television or at the dining room table this Thanksgiving Day, enjoy a crisp autumn morning by pounding the pavement through downtown San Jose with family, friends and a few thousand neighbors! Registration is currently open for the 8th Annual Applied Materials Silicon Valley Turkey Trot, with the Sharks Foundation returning as the proud sponsor of the 10K run.
This is the third consecutive year that the Sharks Foundation has encouraged families and individuals to include fitness in their Turkey Day traditions. Last year, 8,311 dedicated runners completed the 10K course and thousands more participated in the 5K Run/Walk or Kids’ Fun Run.
The Silicon Valley Turkey Trot has donated over $2.2 million dollars to local charities since its inception. This year, race promoters hope to raise $700,000 to provide underserved community members with the opportunity to give thanks this holiday season.
The Turkey Trot’s 2012 beneficiaries include Second Harvest Food Bank, the Housing Trust of Santa Clara County and the Children’s Health Initiative of Santa Clara County.
This years Turkey Trot will be held on November 22 in downtown San Jose. To register for the 8th Annual Silicon Valley Turkey Trot, please visit http://svturkeytrot.com .
