Meier-Player-Of-the-Year

SAN JOSE, CA - The San Jose Sharks (

Among several individual and team achievements this season, Meier broke the franchise record for most goals in a single game after scoring five against the Los Angeles Kings on Jan. 17. He was the fifth player in the last 25 years to do so, following Mika Zibanejad, Patrik Laine, Johan Franzen and Marian Gaborik. His hat trick in the first period was also the fastest in San Jose history from the start of a game (19:09). Meier achieved his 40th point of the year in his 34th game in 2021-22, being the fourth-fastest Sharks skater to do so behind Joe Thornton (29 GP), Owen Nolan (32 GP) and Patrick Marleau (33 GP).
He is the only Swiss born player to reach the 30-goal threshold in two separate seasons, and owns the record for most power-play goals in a season.
Meier recorded his 200th point on Nov. 11 at Colorado and registered his 100th NHL goal on Dec. 16 vs. Vancouver.
The six-foot-one, 220-pound native of Herisau, Switzerland was selected by San Jose in the 2015 NHL Draft (first round, ninth overall).
