SAN JOSE, CA - San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) general manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has claimed center Micheal Haley off of waivers from the Florida Panthers.
Haley, 32, has played 24 games for the Florida Panthers this season, recording three points (one goal, two assists) with 30 penalty minutes in 7:31 time on ice per game.
In 229 career games with the New York Islanders, the New York Rangers, San Jose Sharks and Florida Panthers, Haley has recorded 28 points (nine goals, 19 assists) with 592 PIM. He's also earned two game-winning goals in his career.
Haley has also spent time in the American Hockey League (AHL), appearing in 480 contests and scoring 170 points (88 goals, 82 assists) as a member of the San Jose Barracuda, the team's top development affiliate in the AHL, Worcester Sharks, Hartford Wolf Pack, Connecticut Whale and Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Haley amassed 1,105 PIM in his AHL career, which spanned nine seasons.
The five-foot-eleven, 205-pound Guelph, Ontario native was originally signed as a free agent by the New York Islanders on May 19, 2008.
