"This season's Zoom-only availability wasn't an ideal situation for anyone," said Kevin Kurz, chapter chair of the San Jose Professional Hockey Writer's Association. "Logan Couture making himself available whenever he was requested, while handling himself with class and professionalism, once again showed that few players in the league understand and appreciate the media's role better than he does."
Couture, 32, recorded 31 points (17 goals, 14 assists) in his second season as Sharks captain.
The six-foot-one, 200-pound native of Guelph, Ontario, represented the Sharks to the media on an almost daily basis during the 2020-21 season, including multiple times on gamedays.
Former Sharks defenseman Brenden Dillon was voted as the first winner of the award following the 2018-19 season and a panel of Bay Area media also inducted an introductory "legacy class" of past Sharks players who also consistently handled themselves with professionalism and cooperation when dealing with the media.
