Sharks Camp Update with David Schlemko

by David Schlemko / sjsharks.com

Hey again, David Schlemko here! We're about two weeks into Training Camp now in San Jose. Camp has been going good. It's been nice to get to know the guys a little bit better and get on the road for a game. I am, however, really looking forward to the regular season starting.

On the ice my main area of focus for the rest of Training Camp is to try and play fast. This team plays faster than any other team I've ever been on. I'm working on making quick decisions and trying not to slow the play down too much. With just a couple days of camp left, I'm looking to close it out with having a good weekend on the road, finishing strong and having my confidence high going into Wednesday.

Now that the World Cup is over, we have all the guys back at Training Camp. It's really good to have those guys back. I got to talk to most of them a little bit before they left since I got down here early, but that had been it. I know a lot of the guys who've been on the team prior said it seemed a little weird with them gone - a little more quiet. It's nice to have the whole group together now. It's definitely gotten louder as well, but a good loud. All these guys have a lot of energy and are fun. Brent Burns and Joe Thornton have impressive beards for sure. Will I grow one like that? We'll see how it goes. I have to see if my wife will be into me growing a beard like that. But yeah, I'd be open to trying it anyway. I've never tried to let it go that long but it's always an option!

As Training Camp goes on I am getting more comfortable with the guys. When you leave your first team that you kind of came up with in an organization, it's tough. It was tough for me when I left Arizona. Now I've been on a few teams, so you usually always know somebody from somewhere, through someone, or a buddy or someone you've played with before.

With a couple games under my belt, I'm just really excited as the season gets closer. You need these games to get your legs under you and get up to game speed. The second game felt way better than the first so hopefully it keeps trending that way.

Well that's all from me for today. Talk to you later Sharks fans!
