The 12th Annual Madden-Mariucci “Battle of the Bay” Bocce Ball Fundraiser was a “who’s who” of Bay Area sports personalities.
Pro Football Hall of Famer and former Oakland Raiders Head Coach John Madden and former San Francisco 49ers Head Coach Steve Mariucci co-hosted the event at the beautiful Campo di Bocce facility in Livermore, on Wed., June 2.
This exclusive, high-level event brought together Bay Area sports icons like Ronnie Lott, Dwight Clark and Jim Otto, TV sports personalities such as Brodie Brazil and Vern Glenn, local head coaches like U.C. Berkeley Men’s Basketball coach Mike Montgomery, high-level executives and your very own San Jose Sharks broadcasters Jamie Baker, Randy Hahn and Dan Rusanowsky.
This popular event included a day full of wine tasting, catered Italian cuisine, celebrity and media-filled courts in a venue dedicated to the old world game of bocce.
In four games, the Sharks team—rounded out by front office personnel—finished a respectable 2-2, with one of the losses coming at the hands of the eventual champions.
Over the past decade, this event has raised more than $3 million dollars for local and national charities. The 2010 beneficiaries were Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Special Olympics, Easter Seals Bay Area's Kaleidoscope After-School Program and Tri-Valley High School Football. Click here
