On June 15-17, hundreds of Sharks fans descended upon Logitech Ice at San Jose for the Sharks Annual Equipment Sale. This year’s sale brought fans from all over California as they cashed in on some great merchandise and game-used equipment. Items on the selling block included game-used jerseys, skates, sticks, protective equipment, goalie gear and autographed memorabilia.
Over 1,500 items were made available for fans throughout the three-day sale. The first things to fly off the racks were jerseys worn during the 2005-06 season. Prices of the jerseys ranged from $200 to $1,400 and fans lined up before doors opened to snatch up their favorite players. Team-issued sticks were priced as low as $5 and skates varied from $10 to $225 depending on the condition. With a variety of items at unusually low prices, it was no surprise that many of the items were gone following the first scheduled sale date.
These discounted prices offered fans a unique opportunity to stock up on some much needed equipment.
“I’ve wanted to get into hockey, but it has always been too expensive,” said one Sharks fan, who walked out of the sale with a box full of goodies. “I decided to purchase my first set of hockey equipment today because of the prices.”
Not only were fans able to purchase hockey equipment and items from their favorite players, they also had an opportunity to speak with members of the Sharks equipment staff throughout the three days.
Sharks Equipment Manager Mike Aldrich and Assistant Equipment Managers Kurt Harvey and Roy Sneesby offered their expertise on the proper sizing of the gear, the condition of the equipment and any other general questions fans may have had.
“It was great to be able to offer this equipment to our fans since they continue to be such strong supporters of our franchise,” Harvey said. “It was especially nice to interact with fans and answer some of the questions they have about the equipment. We had a tremendous response throughout the 3 day sale.”
As if getting discounted merchandise wasn’t enough, fans could feel good about their new purchases, knowing that a portion of the proceeds from the Annual Sharks Equipment Sale would benefit The Sharks Foundation and Sharks Hockey Department.
