The San Jose Sharks today announced their 78-game television schedule for the 2006-07 National Hockey League season. Of the 78 televised games, 70 of the contests will be aired on FSN, six on Versus (currently OLN) and two on NBC.
FSN Bay Area will begin their coverage of Sharks hockey on opening night, Thursday, October 5, when the Sharks host the St. Louis Blues at HP Pavilion at 7:30 p.m. PST. In total, 36 Sharks home games and 34 road contests will be televised on FSN this season, including 8 on FSN Plus (five home games and three away games). In addition, 30 contests will be broadcast in high definition. The schedule of high definition games will be released later this fall.
Randy Hahn, who recently signed a three-year contract extension, will again serve as the Sharks play-by-play announcer for FSN Bay Area marking his fourteenth full season with the club. The experienced broadcaster was honored for the third time with a Northern California Emmy as part of the best on-camera team during the 2005-06 season.
Hahn will be joined in the booth this season by former Shark Marty McSorley. The 18-year NHL veteran spent the 2005-06 season working for Fox Sports Net West, based in Los Angeles, providing in-studio coverage and analysis for the Los Angeles Kings and the Anaheim Ducks broadcasts.
The Sharks will be featured on national television six times during the 2006-07 regular season. OLN, which will change its name to ‘Versus’ on September 25, will feature the Sharks four times over the course of the season. The Sharks schedule on Versus begins on October 31 when they play the Florida Panthers at the BankAtlantic Center at 4:30 p.m. PST.
